Why has the NZ dollar outperformed the Canadian dollar?

Written by Sam Coxhead on October 14th, 2011.      0 comments

11:30 AM (NZT) The NZ dollar has outperformed the Canadian dollar through the course of the week so far. This week has seen the “risk assets” bounce back from the intense they have recently been under and this has been the driver for the NZD rise. There has been no significant  economic data in either economy, so the wider market sentiment has solely had the lead. Next week is again quiet in NZ for the economic data perspective, but in Canadian inflation numbers on Friday will be closely watched . The risk appetite  seems to be slowing in its momentum, so further gains from the NZ dollar from current levels will be far harder to make.

The current interbank price is:       .8103

The interbank range on the week to date has been:       .7940/.8122
