The NZ dollar bounces further against the CAD.

Written by Sam Coxhead on June 15th, 2012.      0 comments

4:43 PM (NZT) The NZD has seen grinding appreciation against the CAD and at current levels is at the highs for the week. The moves has been driven by the wider market lead, as opposed to domestic pressures in either economy. The RBNZ delivered the unchanged cash rate decision as expected and the economic data flow in Canada has been very light. The prospect of further QE in the US has led to a weaker US dollar and this has helped weaken the CAD. The prospect of further QE has also seen the NZD in demand and this coupled with the squaring of positions ahead of the Greek election this weekend boosted the move. Current levels offer good value buying of NZD with CAD , given the current levels of uncertainty in the market.

The current interbank midrate is:                                                            NZDCAD .8015

The interbank range so far this week to date has been:                 NZDCAD .7910 - .8020
